    Parish Church of St. Jakob

The late baroque parish church of St. Jakob stands on the south end of a hill spur, the Kirchbühl, slightly elevated above the Lorze outflow from Lake Zug. Its tower, which was taken over from the Gothic predecessor building and is exaggerated with a neo-Gothic tower and a pointed helmet, stands on the corner of the choir head because the baroque building was turned 45 degrees to the north. The foundation stone for today's St. Jakob's church was laid on May 1, 1784. the old church was demolished and the shell was completed in December of the same year. The builders were Jakob Singer from Lucerne and Fidel Moos from Zug. The painters Josef Anton Mesmer from Saulgau and Josef Keller from Pfronten, who were very busy in Central Switzerland, were called for the ceiling paintings. The altar builder was Carlo Andrea Galetti from Val d’Intelvi.

The consecration of the Church of St. Jakob took place on July 26, 1796.

The church of St. Jakob is regularly used by the parish for services, devotions, baptisms and marriages as well as for festive concerts with the church choir or other orchestras.
