Hiking
The Heaphy Track is a fantastic multi-day hike. Bring lots (and I mean lots!) of bugspray and be prepared to cover up, sandflies can be ferocious, even up in the mountains. If you're allergic to their bites, bring some cetericin as well, just in case. But still, extremely beautiful. And relatively quiet after the first (mostly flat) day.
