Bike Touring Highlight
Viewpoint: Denmark's highest dune "Blaabjerg" is 64 m high and
offers a very wide view in good weather. Previously, the dune served as
Sea mark, as it was clearly visible from the sea. Got her name
she, because from a distance she resembled a blue mountain.

The Blue Mountain.
The Blaabjerg is located south of Ringkøbing Fjord between Nymindegab, No fog and Henne Strand. The 64 meter high dune, which is named after the highest point in the area, the "Blaabjerg" (blue mountain), lies within a plantation.
Chamberlain Thyge de Tygeson had once planted them to stop the sand-run. Later, in memory of the chamberlain, a memorial stone was erected on the top of the Blaabjerg.
The high dune used to be an important landmark for sailors. That she looked bluish from a distance gave her her name. Today, the dune is the landmark of the municipality.
Once you have climbed the stairs, you can enjoy the fantastic view over the sea and the coast. On a clear day you can see up to 40 churches, seven of them alone in the municipality of Blaabjerg.
The 4,600 m² of forest surrounding the dune runs through a marked network of paths for walkers, cyclists and riders.
