The Kühkopf is a river island that is surrounded by the Old Rhine. Until the early 19th century, before the Rhine was straightened, it was still a peninsula. The area is undeveloped and today, as a nature reserve, it is an important retreat for wildlife. Access is possible via two small bridges.

The almost undeveloped Kühkopf today forms the "Kühkopf-Knoblochsaue" nature reserve together with the Knoblochsaue to the north and some smaller islets in the Old Rhine. Of the total of 2,440 hectares of nature reserve, the Kühkopf alone accounts for around 1,700 hectares. The island can be reached via two bridges.
