Lüftelberg Castle is a two-part moated castle with a medieval predecessor. The core of the complex dates back to the 13th century. Around 1775, the castle was converted into a baroque palace by the court architect Johann Heinrich Roth, including older parts.

The manor house consists of a south-west two-storey main wing on a high base, which is followed by a single-storey wing in the north-west. The main portal with pilaster frame is striking.

The interior of the castle today largely reflects the state of the 18th century on the ground floor and upper floor. The garden room deserves a special mention. The baroque gardens are located on an island. Lüftelberg Castle is family-owned. Source: meckenheim.de/cms117/stadtportrait_touristik/sehenswuerdständigen_besonderheiten/burg_lueftelberg

In the so-called "dark times" of the Middle Ages, witch trials took place in this now romantic moated castle - as in many other places in Europe. The mystery play group from Lüftelberg also took up this topic in one of their plays and performed it here, practically at the original location.
