Crossroads to different famous routes in Varese area: the back side of Passo del Cuvignone (very hard), Passo S. Michele or dowinhill toward Arcumeggia and Valcuvia.
The climb is mostly through the wood, but with very nice sights every now and then.
The slope is variable, up to 15%. Road is sometimes dirty.

The "second part" of S. Michele da Cittiglio. Once you have reached Arcumeggia and crossed the town, San Michele begins with a sharp right turn onto a partially bumpy road which immediately begins to offer double-digit gradients: it will practically not "give up" until the top.
Excellent tree cover and practically non-existent traffic, the main flaw of this climb (among the most famous in the area) is perhaps the road surface often ruined by roots and cracks, which make the "experience" less pleasant than it could. From the top, however, the view is breathtaking.
