Best Hikes to Old Linden Tree Linden

Tips

  • Natural monument Alte Linde
The more than 150-year-old linden tree in Linden is a typical village linden tree with a sloping, sweeping crown that is rarely found in ArberLand. It is located on the former field of the historic, now extensively renovated castle farm. The approx. 25 m high tree with a trunk circumference of 3.80 m was declared a natural monument in 1977. With the demolition of annoying outbuildings on the Schlossanger, this natural monument, a landmark of the village, comes into its own again.
Linden leaves also shaped the coat of arms of the Degenbergs, the former lords of Linden. The linden tree is of great importance not only for the appearance of the village. The flowers are a popular pasture for bees and have always been used to make linden blossom tea.
