Since the town was founded in the 13th century, butchers and bakers were the most important craftsmen. The butcher's stalls, which served as public sales facilities, were moved from the town hall to the alley between the market and the church square in 1475. Today they are the only surviving ones of their kind in Europe and are listed as historical monuments.
