The Valley Trail runs for 40-miles (64 km) along the foothills of the Teton Range in the Grand Teton National Park. This particular section of trail travels between the Lupine Meadows Trailhead, where most climbers who wish to summit the Grand Teton begin, to the intersection with Garnet Canyon Trail. This part of the Valley Trail takes you through wooded areas with tall conifer trees to more sparsely vegetated rocky slopes and meadows of wildflowers. These open sections offer fantastic views of the entire valley including Blacktail Butte as well as Bradley and Taggart Lakes.

At the beginning of the hike to the Amphitheater Lake Trail, you walk a bit along the Valley Trail. The path here is not so steep but very nice with the large rocks that are scattered here. The landscape is diverse with trees, bushes and rocks. With luck, animals such as mugwort, pronghorn or deer can be observed.
