Built with the steel of the old Moerdijk bridge, beautiful to see.

Double monument. The original monument was placed in the middle of the bridge built in 1936. It consists of a relief of a triumphant female figure for the north and south of the Netherlands. She is standing on the waves, in the waves a number of fish are depicted, in the sky two angels, the sun and a rain cloud. The whole is surrounded by the twelve weapons of the places concerned, viz.
On the left side: Middelburg, Venlo, Schoonhoven, Eindhoven
Right of the woman: Delft, Vlaardingen
Above the text plaque: 's-Hertogenbosch, Rotterdam and The Hague
Below the text plaque: Breda, Tilburg, Dordrecht
The old bridge was demolished in 1978. The relief has been placed as a monument on the south bank, along with a few girders of the old bridge. The year 1978 is printed on both sides at the top. A new plaque on the base recalls the new function.
