Ouarzazate, also referred to as "The door of the desert", is the capital of Ouarzazate Province. Apparently the name means “non-payment” – because when visiting caravans had to stay, there were no fees, as the owner was not in residence, but in his Kasbah a few kilometres away. The name of the river is “Oued Anatim” ("River of no sound").
Café stop on a roof terrace in the old Medina (a little touristy), for Mint Tea and the ubiquitous orange juice. Grabbed some well deserved sun and a little bit of history from a wandering Berber artist, who sang some of his poetry.
