This fountain was originally built in 1912 as Meisenbrunnen, but received after the First World War the present name soldiers well. The reasons for the name change are not exactly known, but may be related to the fact that wounded soldiers of the First World War, who were housed in the Ensheimer hospital, have maintained this well.
