If you have enough time, you should definitely walk to the foot of the glacier. In addition to the impressive mountain world, it is unfortunately very easy to understand what climate change really means. To those who are interested, simple signposting with annual figures shows how the glacier retreats, or, more precisely, melts. It was frightening for me to see that the glacier foot since my last visit in 2015 a good 400 m airline continues. The "blue" ice cave, which impressed me in 2015, this time drifted, June 2017, half melted or remains thereof, in the glacier lake.

In sunshine, the marmots come out of all holes crawled and can almost be caressed. They are very curious and almost tame.

I really enjoyed visiting. Great views and lots of places to eat along the pass. The glacier is a must see.

Großglockner always worth a visit. For some, it's the countless switchbacks and the breathtaking view! On the Franz Josef Höhe there is a free parking deck and a lot to visit ... be it at an exhibition or the brilliant ascent through the tunnel ... currently up to ascent 6.
