Thirlestane Castle is a stunning 16th-century castle set in meadows on the Lauder Water. One of the oldest inhabited castles in Scotland, it has been home of the Maitland family since 1590. Set in extensive gardens, Thirlestane is also famous for its collections of paintings, furniture, and historic toy collection.
