The Loermund is a ridge in Warstein-Sichtigvor. The fortifications that are still visible today are dated to the Saxon-Carolingian period around 800 AD. Strategically located, it was probably one of the reasons to build a wall castle up here. Around 1100-1120 Friederich der Streitbare could have built a small, fortified border castle here on Loermund (there is no written record, earlier excavations do, however, allow these conclusions to be drawn). In 1890 today's Kreuzberg chapel was built by the Prussian master builder Schupmann - a way of the cross leads you to the chapel
