The ponds of Butrera, de la Rosa, del Portillo and del Gabacho were created through excavations to extract clay. In the meantime, an ecosystem of fish has emerged here, especially barbels and carps, as well as poultry such as moorhen and ducks. The area also serves as a resting place for migratory birds such as herons and various duck birds, and is home to some amphibians and reptiles.
