Lincoln Cathedral is an iconic structure that is hailed as one of Europe’s finest Gothic buildings. Following the Norman invasion of Britain in the 11th century, William the Conqueror commissioned the first Bishop of Lincoln to build the cathedral and work commenced in 1072. Upon completion in 1311, it was the tallest building in the world. Had the central spire not collapsed in 1548, it would have remained the world's tallest structure until the completion of the Eiffel Tower in 1889. The cathedral is Grade I-listed.

Lovely cathedral but you do have to pay for entry which grates me a little, happy to donate but it can get a little pricey for a family
