Bordeaux-Bastide station, formerly Bastide-Orléans station, built in 1852, is one of the oldest stations in France. On September 20, 1852, it received its first trains in the direction of Angoulême. The first trains from Paris arrived in July 1853. In 1859, a goods hall was built, as well as the Hall of General Stores in Bordeaux, the first private branch of the Bastide. On August 25, 1860, the bridge over the Garonne, nicknamed the Eiffel bridge, allowed the rail link between this network and that of the Compagnie du Midi, owner of the line from Bordeaux-Saint-Jean to Sète-Ville. In 1861, it was thus cut off from part of its passenger traffic for the benefit of Saint-Jean station. It will accommodate passenger traffic of local interest until 1951, only to be completely abandoned in 1990.
