Excerpt from the notice in front of St. Michael's Chapel:
This chapel here on the 748 m high Michaelsberg, which belongs to the town of Krien, was built around 1800 as solid stone masonry. However, it can be assumed that there was already a much older place of worship before this building, because the Michaelsberg - like the Eckartsberg ("dancing floor") and the Maria Trost mountain - was already considered a place of worship and sacrifice during the settlement period 1000 years ago Germanic tribes – as legends tell us.
