A bit south of the village of Raben lies the medieval Rabenstein Castle. The castle was built in fieldstone in the 13th century and was intended to control the road from Wittenberg to Brandenburg an der Havel. Today there is a restaurant and a small inn in the castle. Knights' tournaments and other medieval themed events also take place here regularly.

In the rustic ambience of the castle's knight's hall, minstrels play with wit and charm at the knight's meal. Well suited for families or company celebrations, of course you can also book this individually.

Above the town of Raben rises on the "steep Hagen" the castle Rabenstein. It was created in the middle of the 12th century as a roadside maintenance area. Due to its steep location on the hillside and the strong fortifications, the castle Rabenstein was considered impregnable for a long time. In the cellar of the castle large quantities of supplies could be stored, only one well did not exist on the castle grounds in the Middle Ages. The more accessible, the ridge-facing side defended the massive keep and the gatehouse. The tower, built of granite, is with its approximately 30 meters height the oldest part of the castle. In addition to climbing the keep, from which you can enjoy a wonderful view of the High Fläming, a visit to the castle includes a visit to the Knights' Hall, the torture chamber, the iron cellar, the fountain, the barn with the screed roof, the Rosemarie chapel and the old one Backhaus from 1860.

Not sure if the nasty climb to the castle is worth it ... I couldn't really see anything as the castle seemed closed.

A short detour to the castle Rabenstein is worthwhile. From the tower you can look far over the Fläming

Castle Rabenstein is well preserved, restaurant and accommodation facilities are available. The falcon flight show is attached and very interesting.

A beautiful castle with restaurant and accommodation. It is interesting that the castle was bought in 1625 by the Wittenberg Professor Erasmus Unruh for probably a lot of money. And that in the middle of the 30 years war.

Visually beautiful castle, but unfortunately due to Corona the owner had to give up and wanted to retire. Everything is locked, no hospitality. Photo taken of the courtyard through the gate gap.
