"Via the Wilhelmstraße you can reach the 87 steps that lead to the 2.6 km long sandy beach and the pier. This staircase is also called sky or angel ladder. The beach around the pier was widened in 1999 with 750,000 cubic meters of fine beach sand.
The length of the pier Sellin is 394 meters, making it the longest but also the most beautiful pier in Ruegen. In fine weather you have a wonderful view of the chalk coast of the Jasmund, Sassnitz and Mukran. In a southerly direction you can make out the Nordperd from Mönchgut. Pier Sellin
Stroll on the Selliner pier about 400 meters towards the horizon! The sea breeze blows away the everyday life, the view of the Baltic Sea and the Rügen coast can be wonderfully dreamed.
Sellin pier on Rügen's east coast with a steep bank The pier is located below the cliffs - if you stand at the end of the wide boulevard that leads directly to the high bank, the pier lies at your feet and you have a breathtaking view over the beach and the Baltic Sea. On the steps down to the bridge benches invite you to linger. If you can not or do not want to climb the stairs, take the small elevator next to the bridge! A great service also for pram or wheelchair users, and free of charge.
Elevator to the pier with prepared Easter fire on the beach Stairway to the pier At the top of the pier, a passenger ship regularly moored during the summer months. Go on and pay a visit to the neighboring seaside resorts! Another highlight is the diving gondola: it awaits you all year round at the top of the bridge for a wonderful trip into the depths of the sea and its unique flora and fauna. Never before have you been so close to the fascinating underwater world of the Baltic Sea ...
Having surfaced again and arrived at the foot of the pier, you could treat yourself to a little refreshment: The pier restaurant serves coffee and cake and hearty dishes - with the very best sea view!

    Part II Earlier ...
At the beginning of the last century, holiday guests were picked up by sailboats from the big steamers and brought ashore. That was dangerous at times. So in 1900, a boat accident killed several people. In order to facilitate and secure the landing, the Sellin community built in 1906 a nearly 509 meter long bridge. A sky ladder with 99 steps led the holiday guests to the Sellin mainland.
Over time, storms and ice caused severe damage to the pier. In 1924 and 1942 it was completely destroyed except for the bridgehead. Rebuilt after the war, the pier received a dance restaurant. Unfortunately, the bridge had to be demolished in 1979 for safety reasons - it was completely rotted.
Pier in winter - snowy and hung with thick icicles
    Rebuilt according to historical model
In 1998, the restored Sellin pier was solemnly handed over to the community. Since then, with a length of 394 meters, it overlooks the sea and invites you to watch romantic sunsets and sea cruises.

The pier of Sellin protrudes 394 m into the sea, that of Binz 370. Due to the white structure (restaurant) at the beginning of the bridge, it is not only longer for me, but also much nicer. A great subject for photographers from sunrise to sunset and even at night.

    Dream castle on the sea
Pier Sellin. Fine lady all in white.
She is brave and she has a big heart. Just because it paves the way for us, we dare so far out to the Baltic Sea. In the morning we hear our own steps on the planks. In the Baltic breeze and sunshine we rejoice with the seagulls to the bet and in the evening we celebrate with the Sellinern wild parties. Whether we are in love, have wanderlust or are looking for a cultural event - the Sellin pier loves us all.
The first Selliner jetty was inaugurated in 1906. It was around 500 meters long, but the storm and ice drift repeatedly caused damage. In the terrible ice winter of 1941/42 only the bridge house remained and became from 1956 a popular dance restaurant. In 1974, however, the system was closed, four years later, the demolition.
Since 1998, the pier now shines again in its historical shape of 1927. "Himmelsleiter" and lift lead down to the 394-meter-long pier.

Seebrücke Sellin – Feine Dame ganz in Weiß.

A walk across the pier is always worthwhile. Also interesting are the historical pictures of the bridge, which are distributed on the railing
