The lake is often frozen and snow covered into late spring. A private property occupies the lake shore at Road's end. The trail leads around the north shore.

Walker Lake is a serene alpine lake formed by Walker Creek on the east side of the Sierra. It fills a valley leaving space for a gravel road on the north shore, which is equally flat and good to ski. After some private houses at the end of the road, one can ski on the trail, or simply ski across the frozen lake.
