As early as 1710 was at Wersch a holy house, which was replaced in 1714 by a solid chapel. Pastor Friedrich Wilhelm Adams from Much (1871-1890) carried out an extension in 1887.

Shortly before (1867) Germana had been canonized. She is considered the patron saint of shepherds. Since at that time in Mucher country many girls had to guard cattle, pastor Adams took up this new shepherd patronage.

Germana was born in Toulouse in 1579 and died in 1601. Her life was marked by poverty. Badly treated by her stepmother, she was not allowed to go to school, but had to keep sheep for years and years. She shared her meager bread with a poor old woman. When, after 43 years, they opened their coffin, the body was undeveloped.

The Germana chapel is the only chapel in the archbishopric of Cologne, in which the hl. Germana is worshiped. It is located southwest of the FIT hotel and is about 10 minutes walk from Much.
