Tips
Schellingwoude is also a dyke village with beautiful wooden colored dyke houses. On your left you pass the Noorder IJdijk, if you cycle on this, you will come to the Oranjesluizen. They have been regulating the water level of the North Sea Canal since 1870 and ensure that not too much salt water flows into the IJsselmeer. You can walk on it (not cycling). If you have time, fun to do and to watch boats.

Currently (14/9/23) the locks are not accessible to passers-by. Due to construction work, everything is behind the fences on both sides. According to the signs for a few days, but how long is that?
