A monolithic Celtic cross form in the churchyard of the former parish church of Kildalton, the Kildalton Cross is thought to date back to the second half of the 8th century.
There are similar crosses of the same age on Iona, but this cross on the Isle of Islay is often referred to as the finest carved Celtic cross in Scotland.
The cross features an iconic image of the Virgin and Child.
