Around 1285, the Lords of Itter donated a cross chapel, which belonged to the diocese of Mainz, the place but ecclesiastical to the diocese of Paderborn. In 1353 the chapel fell to the parish of Obernburg and Thalitter and largely shared their history. The chapel was destroyed in the Thirty Years' War, largely rebuilt from 1660 and re-consecrated in 1663.In the years 1715-16 instead of the Bartholomew chapel of the Lords of Itter by the Oberberginspektor Ludwig Balthasar Müller and the mountain union and Knappschaft the still existing mountain church was built. Two of the three bells carry inscriptions, with which Müller inscribed himself in the local history. Müller died in 1746 and was buried in the mountain church next to his wife Ursula Marianne, who died in 1730. To him and his wife a copper grave plate in front of the altar and an oil painting in the nave from the year 1730.Source: de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thalitter#Bergkirche
