Ahoy I have good memories of that, from 1982 to 1991 I drove 8 times the 24 hour head-on rate there. With a buddy 24 hours divided over 2 hours on and 2 hours off over the course popping or cycling. It was just what you were capable of, the most difficult part for many was between 5 a.m. and 7 a.m. then it became light again. Tents and caravans were set up along the course, and in the first year there was a wooden barracks in which various teams slept.
