Mountain Biking Highlight
On the summit region of the Rennberg, there used to be a wooden fire watch tower and lookout tower. The dilapidated building, which was 35 m high, was demolished in 2009 and replaced by the 35 m [3] fire tower Rennberg made of hot-dip galvanized steel construction. It was inaugurated on March 31, 2010. From its over 143 steps achievable and at 32 m [3] tower height located viewing platform at about 168 m above sea level. NHN falls the view over the Haard, inter alia to Flaesheim, located on the Wesel-Datteln-Kanal lock Flaesheim and in good visibility to the Ruhr area and the Münsterland.

Climb up - the panoramic view is worth it! Height of the tower about 38 m.

If I have counted reasonably correct, there are about 165 steps to the top. The climb is worth it because the view is phenomenal.

Beautiful, high tower for monitoring the so-called "green lung"
of the district ... if it should burn.

Great view and nestled in the most beautiful trails of northern Haard. Finkenberg & Dachsberg are worth a visit.

Fantastic view. The sunrise up here is beautiful. At the foot of the watchtower benches invite you to rest.

This is the complete Haard circuit with its almost 42km. I went completely this way and was very impressed. A well-done mountain bike trail with lots of trails. I can't say the exact altitude difference, because I drove even further in the Haard + there and back to / from Herten. The signage (see photo) is very good and can be followed well without gpx. I had to drive up a descent twice because I did not see the signs or I was too fast ;-)

The location in the middle of the forest alone is something special. The view is definitely worth it. Cyclists should have a lock with them. . .
