In terms of church history, Hochhaus appears for the first time in the register from 1315 alongside 14 other churches as a branch of Kirchdorf bei Haag. The Church of the Visitation of Mary is believed to have been built in the 15th century using the Romanesque nave walls 1.10 meters thick from the earlier castle. With the transfer of church patronage to the county of Haag, the church came to the parish of Rechtmehring in 1380.

The pilgrimage church Maria Hochhaus is somewhat hidden behind the Draxmühle in Hochhaus bei Haag on a small hill. It's a nice quiet place under trees with a bench.
