The coastal Eurovelo 1 bike trail runs along the large protected estuary. Partially on dedicated trail separated from vehicle traffic, partially sharing the shoulder of the road. It's nicest going south to north to always be closest to the water.

Barrinha de Esmoriz is a lake of almost 400 hectares of great importance for local birds and migratory species. Its brackish waters offer refuge to species such as the collared plover and the great reed warbler.

Wide sandy beach in the small village, directly on the mostly well-paved coastal bike trail, that's separated from vehicle traffic, avoiding the pedestrian-only boardwalk. The excellent dedicated coastal bike trial hugs the waterfront and beaches.

The Seventh Arts beach is a pleasantly natural beach despite being right along town. A wooden boardwalk runs through the dunes to protect the fragile vegetation, though by bike it is better to stay on the excellent wide paved promenade.

The road ends at the active dunes, but bikers can continue on the wooden boardwalks high above the soft treacherous sand, though short sections are sometimes still affected by sand transported by the coastal winds

At the north end of the Esmoriz vacation town the continuation of the EuroVelo 1 Bike Route is also one of the trailheads for the very scenic loop trail around the Barrinha de Esmoriz lagoon and nature reserve.

At the North end of the main beach esplanade the trails continue for the more remote beaches, most are accessible by bike via wooden boardwalks. Excellent public warm showers and restrooms
