A highlight of the island stay is the visit to the Leuchtturm.Man has a great panoramic view and next door you can still delicious food in the pancake house.

The bell tower built from many small yellow stones stands on a small elevation. It was built in 1664 by order of Valerius (Watse) Frans van Cammingha and Rixt van Donia, then the Lord and Lady of Ameland.

Wierum is a village with a few hundred inhabitants. The village center is located right against the Waddenzee Sea dyke, which runs around the village in a curve.

The pancakes in Pannekoekhuis are big and good but still expensive. We were there once. Honestly - prefer to do it yourself 😉

The two figures have been set up on top of the dyke, right next to the cycle path.Although the storm sometimes drives the waves terribly high, the dyke watch is ready with wide open eyes.

On the left and right of the path there is a loving collection of dwarves, elves and other figures. Dwarves aren't really my thing, but I had to take a closer look at who lives in this village.
