There are multiple picnic and bench areas around Coot Lake, but this particular stretch offers options with shade and access to the edge of the water. Dogs are only allowed to swim from certain shores (there is adequate signage).

There is a wooden dock really close to the parking area at Coot Lake that looks over the water. Some great photography of the Boulder Peaks can be taken from here.

This little reservoir is a nice waypoint on your travels to or from the neighborhoods of Washington Village and Pine Hill, or nearby Maxwell Park. There's a paved trail that makes cycling here easy.
