Keen on a challenging long-distance hike on the mountain bike? Discover this marathon route in Flanders, designed by none other than marathon-mountain biker Frans Claes. What started as a lockdown project has grown into a concept among fanatical bikers: 136 kilometers full of variety between technical Singletracks and flowing forest paths, with plenty of elevation.
You start southeast of Leuven and ride through beautiful nature reserves such as the Bertembos towards Tervuren. Here you cross the beautiful Brabantse Leemstreek. Later on the route you cross the Hageland. A large part of the route goes through Nationaal Park De Brabantse Wouden, a special piece of nature with beautiful tall trees and due to the elevation also regularly impressive views. Spread over the entire route you will find challenging, technical and hilly Singletracks, among others around Linden and Holsbeek, but also in the Meerdaalwoud and around Overijse.
Would you like to follow in the footsteps of Frans Claes? Then ride the route in one day and make it a marathon distance. Rather enjoy it more and take a break? Then follow the two-day mountain bike route below. Have a lot of fun and enjoy it!
