Once participating in the Transalpine Run (TAR), crossing the Alps in seven days – a dream of many Trailrunners. The TAR is one of the most legendary stage Races worldwide. Every year there are exciting stories, emotional moments and breathtaking mountain landscapes. The RUN2 is the perfect introduction: You Run together with a Teampartner the first two stages of the Transalpine Run (transalpine-run.com).

I myself have participated twice. The Route planning is slightly different every year, but always remains challenging and spectacular. Trailrunning experience, endurance and sure-footedness are therefore essential. In 2023 it went from Lech to St. Anton am Arlberg and on to Ischgl. In this collection I present you the total of almost 61 Kilometer long Route.

For maximum comfort, I would recommend looking for accommodation in St. Anton am Arlberg. This way you can leave your luggage there and get to Lech comfortably by bus on the first day to start. On the second day, it's back from Ischgl to St. Anton by bus and Train. Of course, you can also Run the Route with luggage.

Remember to be well equipped: Rain Jacket, First-Aid Kit and a good Pack List are essential. Above 2,000 meters, the weather can change quickly. It is best to plan the Tour in summer or autumn, while the trails are free of snow.

After the first two kilometers, things get going straight away: the first of two tough climbs. Your goal: the Rauhkopfscharte col at 2,419 meters, the highest point of the stage. Technically, the climb isn't particularly difficult, but it's quite steep. Once you reach the top, you've more than earned

After a flat section in St. Anton am Arlberg, the first long climb begins. It's a long one, but the trail remains pleasant – ideal for slowly getting into the rhythm. You'll run through the impressive Rosanna Gorge and reach the Verwall Valley.

The ascent to the Schafbichljoch is a bit more challenging
