After the success of the inaugural event in 2024, we're excited to announce the 2025 komoot Hiking Rally. You’re invited to join us in the Peak District National Park between Friday 19th and Sunday 21st September 2025. We’ll be following the iconic Pennine Way from Edale to Marsden, soaking up the scenery, sharing adventure stories and enjoying the sense of community.

Spaces are limited and we'll be selecting participants via a ballot to ensure a fair mix of hikers. It's free to apply though if you gain a place you'll be charged a nominal fee of £30 to cover campsite fees and discourage dropouts.

Important Information:

🗓️ Hiking Rally dates: Friday 19th - Sunday 21st September 2025
🥾 Number of places: 60
✅ Enter the ballot free from Thursday 21st August 2025 9:00 GMT+1
💰 Cost: Free to enter the ballot and £30 for those who successfully gain a place
⛰️ Start: Edale, Peak District UK
⛰️ End: Marsden, Peak District UK

The Pennine Way was the first National Trail and is still regarded as one of the UK's finest. We thought we’d pay tribute to this wonderful route once again with our Hiking Rally, especially as it's the route's 60th anniversary. From the historic moorland and beguiling rock formations of Kinder Scout and neighbouring Bleaklow to the hidden gem of Dean Clough and the picturesque reservoirs of the Wessenden Valley, there’s plenty to discover. As well as the Pennine Way, there are short sections on the Trans Pennine Trail and the Kirklees Way too.

In true komoot style, the event is not a race. As a participant, you'll be gifted a free komoot premium package, you'll have access to download the route in full and you can walk at your own pace! You’ll be free to either follow the route precisely or take your own detours or short cuts. You can also choose to walk with others, with guided groups, or to seek the serenity of solo hiking. It’s entirely up to you. Everyone will get together once again at each day’s end point.

On Friday, we’ll gather from 5pm at Newfold Farm Campsite in Edale, pitch our tents and enjoy campfire talks. When Saturday dawns, we’ll strike the tents and head out onto the Pennine Way. A baggage transfer service will be available for those who don’t want to carry all their camping equipment. On the second night, we’ll stay at Crossgate Farm campsite by Tintwistle. On Sunday, the hike will end in lovely Marsden, where there’ll be a Finisher Party from 4pm onwards. You'll also have the opportunity to join navigation workshops.

You can bring your own food for the weekend, though there will be pizza available to buy on Friday night and another meal available to buy on Saturday at the campsite.

We're committed to exploring in an eco-friendly way and work closely with National Trails UK and the Peak District National Park. The route is fully accessible by public transport and we are encouraging people not to drive. If you do choose to arrive by car, you won't be able to park at Newfold Farm (Friday’s campsite) for the weekend, so please arrange alternative parking in Edale. From Marsden, you can catch a train or bus to Sheffield or Manchester, giving you the ability to return to Edale until late Sunday evening.

Everyone is welcome and remember, this is not a race! We'll be hosting pre event webinars on navigation, packing for a multiday hike, and first aid. There'll also be opportunities to ask any questions and meet people that will be joining the event. Fore more information please visit the ticket link. Any questions, please ask in the Collection comments.
