From the origin of one river, to the mouth of the other: The Else-Werre cycle path takes you along the sparkling rivers Else and Werre, through lush green floodplain landscapes and through five charming small towns. This way you can explore the East Westphalian north in wonderful nature by bike.
So that you can discover the river cycle path, the natural landscapes and places around you in peace, I have extended the actually approximately 54 kilometer long Else-Werre cycle path to a good 83 kilometers for a short weekend trip. The advantage is that you can reach both the starting point in Osnabrück and your destination Vlotho very easily by train. So you don't have to worry about getting there and back. Your intermediate stop Bruchmühlen is also well connected to the rail network.
Many rest stops, lively natural landscapes and East Westphalian hospitality await you on the two days when you are always cycling along the gently flowing rivers. To get to know particularly impressive places off the actual path, I have planned one or the other detour for you. For example to the Moorstrandhaus am Hücker Moor, where you can switch to a small paddle boat and discover the lake landscape, or the short ascent to the Burgberg in Vlotho, from which you can throw a breathtaking view into the valley.
I have planned an overnight stay for you after a good 40 kilometers. Since there are no accommodations directly in Bruchmühlen, I recommend the vacation apartment "In der Wassermühle" in Melle to you. It is just under four kilometers from your destination. You can find more information about this here: shorturl.at/mKL68. In addition, you will find further accommodations in the immediate vicinity, such as the Hotel Bueraner Hof. Or you can drive a little further to Bünde.
On the Else-Werre cycle path you cycle past farms and mills, geological peculiarities such as the Bünder Doberg, through wonderful meadows and forests and of course always following the river floodplains of Else and Werre. The East Westphalian serenity accompanies you with every step on the pedals and thus gives you two relaxing days on your bike.
