Enchanted moated castles, magnificent manor houses, romantic gardens and pretty towns with half-timbered houses – Münsterland is an eldorado for romantics. In this Collection, we present four multi-day circular Tours through this unique region of Germany. A day on your bicycle is the best way to explore, after all.

Hilly, pretty and salty – that’s the best way to describe the circular Tour from Burgsteinfurt via Rheine and Tecklenburg. Over three days and 141 kilometres (87.6 mi), you immerse yourself in the region known for its salt production in the Gottesgabe salt works. Castles, monasteries and swim lakes lie en route. With an altitude difference of around 550 metres (1,800 ft), this Tour is the hilliest in this Collection. You’ll definitely break into a sweat halfway up to Tecklenburg.

If you only have a weekend, then the two-day 90-kilometre (56 mi) loop from Oelde via Hovestadt is ideal. ‘Into the green’ is the motto as you head out on your saddle. An old manor house, impressive monastery, historic windmill and the idyllic Lippe Valley lie en route for two magical days in Münsterland.

Münster has an array of castles and palaces. Our 145-kilometre (90 mi) route has countless postcard motifs. Over three days, you cycle through wide-open countryside, visit a medieval castle with a traditional bakery and a moated castle surrounded by manor houses and ornate gardens and parks.

The fourth route leads you over 180 kilometres (111.9 mi) through the rolling hills of the Hohe Mark Nature Park, close to the Dutch border. You can expect quiet forests, picturesque castles, manor houses and endless horizons. On every Tour, a magnificent view extends into the distance, far beyond the Dutch border. The gently undulating landscapes reveal Münsterland’s horizon more than anywhere else in the region.

All four Tours are easy to reach by train. As the Tours are circular, you can start or finish wherever you like. Each day includes cosy cafes and inns that take care of your physical well being. You can keep your bike bag weight down – just make sure you have enough space for some freshly baked bread for the road.

The first stage brought you very close to the salt. On the second - you already guessed it - it gets hilly. However, the altitude meters to be mastered only wait for you at the very end. So you can enjoy the route to the fullest until the end.

Half-timbered romance and moated castles, picturesque waters and ancient inner cities make the third and last stage something very special. The route remains largely flat. But look forward to the rapid descent from Tecklenburg.

Lots of green and always a noble castle and cultural assets ensure an incomparable change on the two-stage tour from Oelde via Hovestadt with the resounding name “Rein ins VerGrünen”. With a few meters of altitude, it is a real pleasure tour for a weekend away from the big city.

Old castles, stately mansions, enchanted stone towers and picturesque moated castles - the three-stage tour is truly a firework of palaces and castles. Rather, each stage is designed for enjoyment and exploration, rather than simply taking a route.

Your tour began with fireworks and ends with fireworks. On the third stage you will pass one castle, one chateau or manor house after the other at regular intervals. This last stage is by far the longest and with the Nottulner Mountains there are even a few meters of altitude waiting for you.

The third and last stage is by far the shortest at around 50 kilometers. Nevertheless, you can look forward to fireworks from mighty buildings and panoramic views over the rural Münsterland.
