Fehmarn is the third largest island in Germany after Rügen and Usedom. The island gets an average of 2,000 hours of sunshine every year so it comes as no surprise that it’s also known as the sun island.

In addition to the many sunny days, a 78-kilometre (48 mi) long, varied coastline with quiet sandy beaches and fascinating cliffs also attracts visitors. Its small fishing villages and harbour towns offer you delicious fish sandwiches and great views of the Baltic Sea. Inland, there are wide fields and meadows, which are a brilliant yellow during the rape blossom season. If you want to experience the idyllic island life, we recommend visiting Fehmarn in spring or autumn. At this time, it’s wonderfully quiet here. Take your bike with you, because this is the best way to explore the island.

In this Collection, we’ve selected eight beautiful bike Tours. Discover the island on a loop, cycle through cosy fishing villages and harbour towns or discover traces of the island painter E. L. Kirchner along a bike path. You’re sure to find a great ride here.

You can easily reach the island via the Fehmarnsund Bridge, which connects to the mainland. Even if you don't have your own bike, you don't have to do without one here. There are 13 bike rentals on the island. There are about 300 kilometres (186 mi) of signposted bike paths to discover and some have been renovated in recent years, so an adventure here is even easier and more relaxed.

To stay overnight on the sunny island, you’ll find countless campsites, holiday rentals and some hotels and guesthouses.

Now the only thing left to do is to go to Fehmarn! The sunny island welcomes you and your bike.
