When summer slowly fades away, nature finds its peace and the sky appears clearer than ever, there’s a very special natural spectacle to watch in Val Gardena: the Burning Dolomites.
From mid-September, the needles of the larches turn from green to yellow, then they glow orange, red and brown. Near sunset at this time of year, the fading rays make the Dolomites (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) appear wonderfully red. The legendary ‘Pale Mountains’ are transformed into glowing rocks: the edges, peaks and towers are bathed in a magical sunlight, framed by a clear and brilliant blue sky, typical of the stable fair weather in autumn. At this time, the valley draws photographers and outdoor lovers to enjoy the spectrum of colours in quiet contemplation.
As a biker you can enjoy this special atmosphere from September to November either with our certified local bike guides or on your own.
When the summer comes to an end, a magical time starts in Val Gardena: "Burning Dolomites".

A great tour particularly suitable for bikers who are not yet very familiar with mountainbiking. Of course, it is still not a walk in the park, because you should have some uphill and downhill riding skills. The St. Jakob’s Church is the first highlight of the tour: the small church is the oldest in…

The clockwise Val Duron tour develops on the bike path towards the east. Leave the bike path once you’ve reached Plan, continue on the path across Plan de Gralba heading towards Passo Sella. At the height of the Mountain Resort only a few metres are left to the highest point of the tour (2,215 m) and…
