Do your kids already know every playground in your neighbourhood like the back of their hand? Are you slowly outgrowing your area of exploration? Then it’s time to discover some of the best adventure playgrounds in and around Berlin. We’ve selected 11 beautiful places for you and your children and included them on 3 to 12 kilometre (2 – 7.5 mi) hikes. You can easily reach all of the start points with the Berlin S–Bahn or Regionalexpress train.
Classic parks such as the FEZ–Wuhlheide or Ökowerk Grunewald are, of course, at the top of our list. These great playgrounds are always worth a visit; they often offer exciting hands–on events for kids too. On other Tours, it’s not just the playground that’s an adventure, but the whole hike. We take you to the primeval forested Löcknitz River valley and to the Schöneberger Südgelände with its old and interesting railroad tracks.
We’ve also selected beautiful and exciting playgrounds in other districts for you – located in small parks in the city centre or in one of Berlin’s forests. With great facilities, you and your children will have a great time there. If you’re in the mood for a bit more luxury, check out the Tours to Oranienburg Palace Park and the Gardens of the World in Marzahn. They have fantastic play areas and beautiful gardens.
Curious? Then grab your kids, pack a picnic and off you go. The Berlin S–Bahn takes you comfortably to your adventure and back again.
On your way to the Spree, the Panke accompanies you for a short distance, crosses the Buch Castle Park and shortly afterwards you reach the school gardens and the Buch school forest. By the way, the only one in Berlin. Not far away - you can reach it with a short detour - is the archeology and adventure…
Exciting urban nature, old and mysterious railway relics, art to touch and a small, cozy playground very close to a café. You can find all of this on the Schöneberger Südgelände. It is located in the area of the Tempelhof marshalling yard, which was shut down in 1952. In the years that followed, it became…

The Volkspark Wilmersdorf and the Rudolph-Wilde-Park are a green oasis with lakes, meadows, groups of trees, benches and playgrounds running through the lively districts of Wilmersdorf and Schöneberg. At the eastern end, subway passengers can even catch a glimpse of the park, as this is where the rail…
The Park am Gleisdreieck has been a real magnet for visitors since it opened. No wonder, because the former track wilderness has developed into a place with a great quality of life. Playgrounds and boule alleys, sunbathing lawns and table tennis tables as well as a skate park and sports fields await…
The Marzahn Gardens of the World were opened in 1987 as a "Berlin Garden Show and a gift from the gardeners to the capital of the GDR". Thirty years later, they were expanded, embellished and modernized for the 2017 International Garden Show. Even a gondola – the only one in Berlin – was built to offer…
A beautiful, approximately twelve-kilometer hike with a ferry ride takes you from the Grünau S-Bahn station to the Müggelberge, the Müggelturm and a beautiful playground. It is hidden in the forest near the Teufelssee and offers a paradise for youngsters with an exciting climbing house, slide, seesaw…
The Tegeler Forst is one of the five most important Berlin forests and a great blessing for all city dwellers who like to be outdoors. Pine and deciduous forests grow on a beautiful, wavy terrain, rare species of birds breed here and the oldest oak tree in Berlin, the "Dicke Marie", can be admired near…
A hike through the Löcknitztal is a wonderful and natural adventure. You start at the Fangschleuse train station after the regional express 1, which runs about every half hour, has dropped you off there. You reach the Löcknitz after a short distance through the forest and then follows its course through…
Why not go to Oranienburg? The S1 commutes every 20 minutes between Berlin and the important city on the upper reaches of the Havel. We have put together a short hike of seven kilometers for you, which will first take you to the castle park and then to the lido at Lehnitzsee. So don't forget your bathing…
One of the large Berlin forest areas is the Wuhlheide in East Berlin. The park alone is worth a visit because of its large population of oaks and other deciduous trees. The absolute hit for families, however, is the FEZ (leisure and recreation center) with the many offers as well as the playgrounds distributed…
The Grunewald is an all-time classic for a hike close to the city with lots of fun and excitement for the little ones. The large forest area in the west of Berlin is a great hiking area that stretches over undulating areas to the Havel. It is crowned by the Teufelsberg with the dilapidated monitoring…
