Soak up the impressive panorama of Austria’s Hohe Tauern mountains, listen to the rushing waters of the Salzach River, refresh your legs in the cool Zeller See, gaze upon high peaks reflected in the clear water and enjoy a cup of coffee in Salzburg. All this awaits you on the varied Tauern Cycle Path.
In this Collection, we show you the two variants of the cycle path. Stages 1 to 5 in combination with 8 and 9 take you on the classic 310-kilometre (192 mi) from Krimml to Salzburg and Passau. If you decide on the 270-kilometre (167 mi) long Tauern Cycle Route, you cycle stages 1 to 7 one after the other. This variant takes you from Salzburg on a loop back to Bruck, south of Lake Zell. To shorten your journey on the Tauern Cycle Route Circuit, ride stages 3 to 7 from Bruck or from Salzburg. Some stages are quite short, so you can combine them if you feel like it. As you can see, there are many possibilities to discover the Tauern Cycle Path according to your taste.
You can get to the starting point in Krimml comfortably with the Pinzgauer Lokalbahn. If you ride the Tauern Cycle Trail Circuit, the train takes you back to the starting point from Bruck. Many great restaurants and cafes line the route, as well as swim spots and breathtaking waterfalls to cool off and, of course, plenty of accommodation for a relaxing overnight stay.
