This is a selection of walks, from beach strolls to summit hikes in and around the Edinburgh region. This is the place I currently call home and I feel extremely lucky to be able to explore it so readily.

I love how popular the area is with holiday makers and tourists, as it reminds me just how fortuante I am to have all of this on my doorstep. As well as the rich culture and heritage of Edinburgh, the city also boasts some beautiful outdoor spots to experience, whether its along the spectacular Firth of Forth coastline or in the glorious Pentland Hills . I used to travel here for holidays and I have so many fond memories with friends and family. Now every day I’m making even more memories by discovering new places to hike, stroll and adventure my way around the city and the surrounding area.

This Collection contains a real mix of scenery, wildlife and experiences for anyone visiting Scotland’s magical capital city 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 I hope you’ll enjoy it just as much as I do!

This walk boasts a beautiful walk through a nature reserve before climbing the sand dunes to reach the beach on the other side. By combining this with a beach clean I loved the sense of purpose, knowing that I was helping to maintain and protect this protected area.

After work hike up the Pentlands for an amazing view over Edinburgh from the summit of Allermuir Hill. There are various access routes including one path which skirts around the city’s dry ski slope!

The Edinburgh section of the John Muir Way includes stunning views of the Forth Road and Rail Bridges before walking through the capital city itself.

I joined my friend Bryony, who was doing the whole John Muir Way, for this hike.

This is the perfect beach stroll, taking in Portobello Beach and the harbour at Musselburgh. I fitted it in one evening after work. With lots of lovely seaside cafes to stop in, or just watch the boats in the harbour - there’s plenty to take in on this straightforward route.

In summer 2021, komoot challenged us all to #OwnYourEvenings and on this hike I did just that with a lovely stroll at Aberlady Bay. It's simply the perfect beach spot for watching the sunset.

Arthur's Seat is a much beloved hill for both locals and visitors to Edinburgh. It rewards with stunning views including the city itself, the Firth of Forth, the Pentland Hills and more! Brilliant to be able to access such beautiful views in the heart of the city.

Scald Law is the highest point in the Pentland Hills range. There are multiple access routes but this one is possibly the most direct - perfect for a quick sunrise ascent!

This is possibly my favourite hike in the entire Pentland Hills range. It feels so varied and has many incredible views points along the way. It feels remote enough to forget how close it really is to Edinburgh - the perfect escape for a few hours in the hills

This hike to the highest point in the Pentland Hills is accessed via a switchback ridge and takes in Carnethy Hill. The return route is then accessed via a minor road running alongside Loganlea Reservoir and Glencorse Reservoir where fisherman can be spotted out in small rowing boats.
