Northrop Falls Hike
After significant rains in past 24 hours, the falls volume was at a max. The 90-foot drop was spectacular. Trail was wet in spots and mildly slick in others but completely navigable. I only did a partial loop as I sustained a minor injury and had to return to vehicle ahead of companions. My companions loved hiking behind the falls as they were so full! One foot bridge was in poor shape due to loose boards but otherwise a well maintained trail through a lovely forest and skirting rock faces. Good large gravel parking lot at trailhead but no comfort station.

Some of the best rock faces and shelters in this area of Tennessee! Trail is partly closed off in areas of storm damage but detours still get you to the best formations.

Anglin Falls
Forgot to turn off tracker so actual hike was about 2 miles. Nicely maintained trail, popular despite long rural drive to get to it. Wildflowers along out and back, mostly single track trail. Seasonal rains mean best flow after rains. A bit steep at end. Shady but never much bug activity the two times we came.

Hiking at Rock Island State Park
Awesome park with excellent explanations to describe why/how dam for power generation created some of the falls that looked like they were. weeping from the rocks. Next time we’ll do the other side of the river.

The CCC restored this monument after vandals destroyed it. Wide easy trail to top of knob with views of the valley below. There is a tiny museum also which highlights the Civil War battle at Boonesboro. Stairs to top of monument were closed on our visit.
