Out walking the Fairfield Horseshoe. Georgeous day with bright vlear sky and views out to sea. Could see Blackpool Tower. Still a bit chilly in crhe summit cant have been much above freezing. Occasional patches of sniw on the tops and the pools had a thin dilm of ice. That didnt bother the daog though.

Parked at Mardale Head (NY469 107) for a walk with the dog. Not planning on anything too great, just needed to get out and need to do a bit of nav practise.
Previous weekends snow pretty much gone from the Lakes and forecast was a bit ‘mergh’, so decided to tick off these two Wainwrights.

A glorious weather weekend towards the end of a summer heatwave. Forecast for clear skies and sun, so decided to avoid walking in the honeypot areas. Intended to ‘run’ the western Wainwrights above Ennerdale from the Cold Fell road. Kitted out in trail runners, lightweight gear an running pack. Set off at a brisk pace up open fell with bright sun, clear skies and little wind giving a stunning view up Ennerdale from the top of Crag Fell. Down and up onto Iron Crag (Ennerdale Fell) on the way to Caw Fell. With it being such a nice day took an extended break here to admire the views out over Sellafield and Black Coombe. Too hazy to see far out to sea. Retraced steps to head over Whoap and up to the trig point of Lank Rigg before following the valley of Whoap Beck down and back to the road. Pretty much succeeded in avoiding the crowds: saw about a dozen people all day. Wasn’t so much a run, more a fastpack with occasional jogging.

The Wharfedale 3 Peaks Challenge is organised by Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association. It is open to walkers and runners but we chose to run it.
On the day it was fine down in the vallet but up on the tops there was a 25mph ish wind and low cloud which was more like driven sideways rain. Got pretty
