A very lonely area where you might find some peace and quiet. Great pictures. Best regards, Markus Thiel 💯 👍 🌎

Yesterday’s bloodbath wasn’t for naught. Managed to piece together the trails that I saw from the bushwhacking into something that is passable, and has options for tagging on more too. With some traffic these could be excellent.

I have to assume that one brave, machete laden, electricity worker has passed by some of these areas … one because there was just enough of a cut through that it was ‘passable’, and two because I found a couple of ribbon markers. My legs are cut to bits. The majority of this I won’t run again … but I did find some good little links that should make a decent route eventually.

Great adventure to the other side of Cerro Grande. Beautiful running, some good steep climbs, and relatively friendly locals

By pure coincidence I was parked at the central route of the Camino Santiago today. With an hour and a half to kill it made complete sense to see what a few kilometres might look like out and back on this route. It did not disappoint. Absolutely stunning, with mediaeval and Roman architecture the through rural northern Portugal. Absolutely adore what I have been seeing on this trail.

I’m in the process of writing a full reflection on this ridiculous outing which will appear on my substack imminently. Suffice to say, it was a sufferfest, an adventure, an experience to be remembered and learned from. I particularly enjoyed seeing how many folks were out there on the trail heading north. Mad respect to all the pilgrims that see through the whole route to Santiago de Compostela. I’ll be back 👀

Komoot recommended route with a couple of tweaks … I’m suitably impressed. 50% on runnable fire road / access road. 25% on technical single track. 25% of quasi-bushwhacking. Sicó was a stunning view
