On this hot day, only the irrigation systems in the fields brought refreshment. Unfortunately, it was quite windy in the afternoon, feeling like it was always in my face...

From Sélestat, we drive through the Rhine floodplains towards the Rhine-Rhone Canal, passing remnants of the Maginot Line. Then we turn right (after many pleasant kilometers) and drive along the Canal de Colmar. The Vosges (see first photo) and the Black Forest accompany us the whole time. Today we again

A beautiful medieval town. Amusing is the memorial plaque at a school documenting all visits by French heads of state since Louis XIV - up to Macron.

Passing a large mosque, we quickly find our way out of Strasbourg heading south, along the Rhine-Rhone Canal. Then it goes through the rural Alsace until Sélestat. The cycle paths are well developed (all asphalt) and perfectly signposted, only a short stretch shared with cars. Before Sélestat there were

We start our bike tour through Alsace in Strasbourg: Last night we were already at the Strasbourg Cathedral, which looks much more beautiful in the evening sun than at midday. Petite France with its many canals of the Ill and half-timbered houses is pure idyll, climbing the cathedral tower involves over

Fortunately, the thunderstorm passed us by! The first part of the route is quite hilly and partly rather bumpy. But behind Alt Rhese there are excellent cycle paths. We had a reservation at Seehaus am Kreuzsee, which is highly recommended. Good food, very friendly service.

Unfortunately, today's bike tour of the dance club was quite wet and stormy at times. All the better was the taste of the bratwurst, coffee, and cake at the shore of the Tollensesee at the end.

Because of the heat (36 degrees in the afternoon), we started at 08:00. Shade was also scarce. But the ride through the vineyards and the idyllic villages (especially Eguisheim, Turkheim and Riquewihr are medieval pearls) makes up for everything. We weren't alone, of course...
The climbs at the end were
