Buchberg is only 469 meters high, but a worthwhile destination in every season. Especially when accompanied by good friends, as today. At the summit, a lookout tower awaits with panoramic views, along with a cozy mountain hut. A fantastic winter hike.

A fantastic end to a successful year of hiking. Just enough snow to make it beautiful yet not strenuous. Excellent hospitality at the Hengsthütte. I accidentally knocked a pretzel over on the descent, but no harm done, only a walking stick broke. If that doesn't bring good luck ;-)

It was a good year

Our circular hike led from the small village of Prigglitz above Gloggnitz to the Gahns, a spur of the Schneeberg mountain. Even on the ascent, there are magnificent views of the valley and the surrounding landscape. At the top, the trail continues across the Tobelwiese meadow and on to the Rote Wand

The history of Merkenstein Castle is marked by political conflicts and shifting ownership. As early as 1482, significant disputes arose when Hans III von Hohenberg, the then lord of the castle, placed the castles of Merckenstein, Hohenberg, and Kreisbach at the disposal of the Hungarian King Matthias

Surprisingly beautiful weather awaited us in the small town of Droß, on a high plateau about 10 kilometers northeast of Krems on the Danube. The castle of the same name stands on the southern edge of the village, on the road to Senftenberg. The complex is located on the site of a medieval castle, and

An easy, beautiful circular hike leads across the Kukubauerwiese. The wide meadows offer a wonderful view and just below the summit cross, the Kukubauerhütte is an ideal refreshment station. On the way down, we once again lost our bags (it's almost part of the program), but it wasn't a problem, a little

Very beautiful autumn hike in the Türnitzer Alps from the Geiseben to the Kaiserkogel. The ÖTK refuge is currently only open to the public as the access road is closed due to a landslide. The return journey is the same as the outward journey.

A beautiful forest path leads to the Kleiner Edelstein, a short section is secured with a wire rope. Wonderful view down to the starting point at Gutenstein station and a distant view of countless peaks. Shortly after the turnoff to the Großer Edelstein (we skipped the visit), a path branches off to

At the entrance to the Sierningtal Nature Park, the Gösing stretches 898 meters into the air. The mountain in the Gutenstein Alps is a popular excursion destination, and the Neunkirchner Naturfreundehaus is an ideal base (open on weekends). We chose the steep climb from Sieding over a hunting trail to
