Diesen Landstreifer starteten wir an einem Parkplatz in der Nähe der Schillkaserne. Es ging durch den Diersfordter Wald mit seinen Kiefern, Eichen, Rotbuchen und viel Farn. Ebenso ging es durch das große Veen mit seinem Wollgras und Rosmarin. Der Moorerlebnisweg, der auf einem Teilstück über einen Holzbohlenweg direkt durch das Heidemoor führt, durfte nicht fehlen, genauso wenig wie die große Sanddüne und das Schwarze Wasser. Ein Naturpark, der vielen Pflanzen und auch Tieren Lebensraum bietet. So leben dort unter anderem der Moorfrosch, Hirschkäfer, Rotwild, Mufflon, Wildschwein und viele andere. Wir starteten am Parkplatz 🅿️ an der Wiedhalle in Roßbach. Über den Westerwaldsteig umrundeten wir das Roßbacher Häubchen, einen Berg mit 340 Metern Höhe. Bei klarem Wetter hat man von hier einen guten Blick auf das Wiedtal und den Rhein-Westerwald. Wir hatten allerdings starken Nebel. Danach ging es für uns runter ins kleine, aber sehr schöne Masbachtal. Danach wieder rauf auf die Höhenzüge über dem Wiedtal und dann wieder runter nach Roßbach zurück zum Parkplatz. Auf der Route sieht man viel Basalt, der hier früher im Tagebau abgebaut wurde. Man läuft über Teile vom Westerwaldsteig und vom Wiedweg. Wichtiger Hinweis: Bei Kilometer 9 wäre es direkt an der Wied entlang gegangen. Dieser Weg ist aber unter Bußgeldandrohung gesperrt, wie auf dem entsprechenden Foto zu sehen ist. Deshalb haben wir hier umgedreht und wanderten parallel ungefähr 2 km an der Bundesstraße entlang. Es gab zwar einen Fußweg, aber der war asphaltiert und die Straße direkt daneben. Wir starteten diese Rundtour am Parkplatz an der Grundschule. Zuerst ging es durch die wunderschöne Altstadt von Unkel. Dann kamen wir am Haus Rabenhorst vorbei. Wer kennt sie nicht, die Rabenhorst und Rotbäckchen Säfte?😊Weiter ging es nach Scheuren, ein ebenfalls sehr schönes Dorf und von hier aus den Elsberg hoch. Der Aufstieg lohnte sich, das Plateau ist sehr schön und vermittelt eine gewisse Weite. Über Bruchhausen ging es weiter zur Erpeler Ley. Normalerweise hat man hier einen wunderbaren Blick auf den Rhein und die gegenüberliegende Stadt Remagen. Leider konnten wir aufgrund des dichten und den ganzen Tag anhaltenden Nebels nicht sonderlich weit sehen. Von hier aus ging es über den Rheinwanderweg und Erpel inklusive Rheinpromenade wieder zum Parkplatz zurück.
