About Dody
Left my home, my job and my husband in 2002 to live outdoors, find my peace and enjoy my life. Partly traveling the world by plane and various cars in some countries, but the majority sailing my boat (and others) in the Mediterranean and Atlantic Ocean for thousands of miles. Now re-building my boat in Nazaré/Portugal to continue my voyage. Got no house and no apartment and I don't want one. I love cats and have rescued some who decided to stay. There is times I need to get my head clear and get a bit of exercise also, that's when I start hiking or going with the mountain bike. Never a dull moment, life is wonderful 😊

It's only today that I found out the Rio Lis has several springs. While the majority of them dries out during summer, the one I visited today is the only one that doesn't, it's got water all year around.

They were laughing when they noticed I was a bit puzzled, saying Dody, the one you visited before

This hike was organized by the fire brigade of Alcobaça and I was hoping it would include the area of the river I've seen and adored so many times from the road when passing, but never found the time to explore.

Registered and of course you go and take the time off 😊!

Like the previous ones, this hike was organized together with two trail-running events and not of my own invention.

As always with these events, it was the locals who grew up in the area who set up and prepared the route.

I was very curious about the name for the event, so I asked them.

      Instant reply "oh

Sorry about all those water-photos but I love having water around me even if it's not saltwater 😊!

I had visited the spring of the Rio Lis last year and was curious to see it close to where it enters the sea. Wrong season of course, to see it in it's full roaring beauty I've got to come back when we

This trip wasn't my invention but a by-product of the "Limestone Ultra Trail" (LUT), offering family and friends of the trail-runners a bit of a proper activity which included the visit of the cave. In our case we entered at the exit going down 75 meters or so using the steps, and then all the way uphill

It was a "come on let's go" mission meaning we would arrive at the little lagoon to cross the river about 2 hours after high-water. I waded in anyway till the water reached to my shorts (so would come up to about my navel at the deepest point), but the companion that came along wasn't up to it. That

On warm midsummer days it might be a good idea to do the ascent early (and don't forget drinking water!). As soon as you're at the summit there is a lovely breeze making it a really pleasant walk. A dip in the water of the Rio Liz later on when you've come down the hill is a little refreshing extra and

As I said, unfortunately I hit the wrong button, so the hike is coming in two parts. Sorry!

I accidentally hit the "save" button and don't seem to be capable to fix it, so this tour comes in 2 stages. Sorry!
