We rode out of the campground with Annalee in front. Her bike donned our 3rd version of a simple contraption to keep her rear derailleur arm fixed, which counteracts the rear wheel issue and helps keep her chain taut. She had to power through the small ascents in a much higher gear than normal and

The kids and I biked to Sogndal and Annalee took a bus due to her bike issue. We'll learn more about how we're going to proceed tomorrow morning.

We biked to Nigardsbreen national park and did a guided glacier walk. Amazing! Then we biked back to camp to pick up our bags. This is when Annalee really noticed the issue with her rear wheel that was resulting in the derailleur not being able to take up the slack in the chain resulting in the chain

Made our way along the North side of Lustrafjorden. Stopped at the very interesting 13th century stone church outside Luster. Continued to Gaupne and followed the Jostedøla river towards its source to Gjerde.

Climbing, more climbing, then a long descent. 8-10% grades were common both up and down. We reached Sognefjellshytta at 2pm and ate every cinnamon roll we could get our hands on, then had lunch at a picnic table with a view of two glaciers. We had a long discussion about which way to go and opted

We left camp unloaded for Dalsnibba, a viewpoint 7km west of our campsite. Just before reaching the base of the Dalsnibba climb we reached an alpine lake called Djupvatnet that was a mirror to the mountains behind it. We didn't know anything about this lake before but it was the highlight of our day

Very fun and beautiful climb to Gamle Strynefjellevegen, an old road above Hjelle that follows the Hjelledøla river up to a glacial valley filled with turquoise lakes. Tough climb but good to have it behind us by lunchtime. We had snacks and coffee at the cafe in Grotli and turned west to a wild camp

Lovely unloaded ride to see the Kjenndals glacier. The lake is cold but refreshing!

Started climbing first thing in the morning to reach Flofjelletvegan, a gravel road that literally translates as 'flood mountain road'. It brought us to the limits of our gearing and strength on loaded bikes in places, but was as fun and beautiful as it was challenging. Near the top, we encountered

Took a short hike in the morning in Urke, then retraced our tracks through the Nibbedals valley to Hellesylt to set ourselves up to tackle Flofjellet tomorrow.

Up the beautiful valley from Eidsdal. Swarmed by flies for several km but they dissipated upon reaching Eidsvatnet. Our no-flat streak was snapped when Annalee's front tire suddenly blew while we were taking a snack break but a kind and enthusiastic Frenchman insisted on helping by installing a spare

We were able to catch a ride to and from Åndelsnes to watch Norway beat Brazil 2-1 and return to the campground at 1am. We arose at 6:00 and headed out by 7:20, a little later than planned but not too bad. The weather finally cleared for our Trollstigen climb and perhaps much of Norway was sleeping

We bid Annalee good luck with making it to Voss to get her wheel and started up the road to Myrdal. It began with 16.5km of gentle climbing with lovely scenery, during which we saw Annalee on her train chug by from a distance. After that, it was a 2km sufferfest of 15%+ grades, barely managing to stay
